김윤영 개인전 «음파음파 Eumpa Eumpa»

실을 물감 삼아 작업하는 김윤영은 인간-자연-사물이 한데 뒤엉켜 발산하는 미완의 감정과 그 운동성에 대해 탐구한다. 특히 작가는 감정의 타래가 (때로는 잔잔하게 반대로 격렬하게) 천을 뚫고 남기는 흔적을 다정한 시선으로 바라보고 포갠다. 납작하게 제시된 그의 작업 속 풍경에는 나뭇가지, 분수, 추 등이 반복적으로 등장하는데 이는 그가 과감히 얼려 버린 절정의 순간을 파악하기 위한 일종의 단서로서 기능한다. 

 

국내에서 갖는 김윤영의 첫 개인전 《음파 음파》는 우리의 몸이 물에서 나와 밖으로 내뱉는 숨소리에서 연유한다. 이 짧고 사소한 호흡이 순간의 생을 간절히 붙잡는 것처럼, 그 안에 가득 머금고 있던 공기가 비로소 음~파~ 음~파~의 주문으로 새어 나와 처음으로 한국의 관객과 마주한다. 이번 전시에서 작가는 지난 10년 동안 그의 풀 안에 찬찬히 채워 온 자수와 판화 드로잉 약 20점을 새롭게 선보인다.

Yunyoung Kim employs thread as her medium to delve into the intricacies of unresolved emotions and their interplay, which emerge when humans, nature, and objects become entangled with each other. With a delicate touch, she examines the residual imprints of feelings that pierce through the fabric, sometimes quietly and sometimes violently, with a tender gaze. Her flatly presented landscapes feature recurring elements such as tree branches, fountains, and weights that serve as clues to capture the climactic moments that she boldly freezes.

 

"Eumpa Eumpa," Yunyoung Kim's first solo exhibition in Korea, draws inspiration from the sound of human respiration as one emerges from the water and exhales. Just as we desperately hold onto that momentary breath, the air that was trapped inside her will be released to meet the Korean audience through the spell of eum~pa~eum~pa~. The exhibition presents approximately 20 new works, including embroidered pieces and print drawings that she has woven over the past decade.
